Strength Within Me Brunch

In honor of Women’s History Month, We invite you to join us for brunch and conversation celebrating the sisterhood, heritage and strength of the Latin Diaspora. Our dynamic panel will be moderated by Luciana McClure, Founder and Curator of Nasty Women Connecticut, and feature Addys Castillo, Executive Director of Citywide Youth Coalition and Kica Matos, Vice President of Initiatives at Vera Institute of Justice.

The curation of this event was deeply inspired by our current production of DREAM HOU$E by Eliana Pipes. DREAM HOU$E follows two Latinx sisters on an HGTV-style show who are selling their family home, hoping to capitalize on the gentrification in their “changing neighborhood.” As they perform for the camera the show starts to slip into the surreal: one sister grapples with turmoil in the family’s ancestral past and the other learns how much she’s willing to sacrifice for the family’s future. What’s the cultural cost of progress in America—and is cashing in always selling out?
