The Stage Squad

In 2020, we launched the Stage Squad: an innovative youth program that invites inspiring high schoolers to support our aims of a boundary-breaking future.

Each school year, 9-11th grade students from New Haven Public Schools interested in understanding the inner workings of a non-profit theatre company—and influencing the future of its programming—are invited to join the Stage Squad. Stage Squad cohorts are fully immersed in the world of professional theatre making and tasked with interrogating the possibilities for a new American theatre.

Additionally, each Stage Squad participant will:

  • Attend weekly workshops facilitated by theatre professionals.
  • Declare an area of study and be matched with a theatre professional for online coaching.
  • Present a performative demonstration of learnings before a panel of their peers, friends, families, and professional theatre makers.
  • Receive a $500 stipend for their commitment and full participation.

Stay tuned for the 2022 Stage Squad’s Final Project Presentation! Details to come.
