Library Partnership

Reviving Accessibility Through the Arts

The Free Theatre Pass Program, a cherished initiative between Long Wharf Theatre and the New Haven Free Public Library (NHFPL), was originally established before the pandemic. After a temporary hiatus, we're thrilled to bring it back, offering new and enhanced opportunities for the community to engage with the arts.

Purpose and Impact

Bridging Communities Through Free Theatre Access

At Long Wharf Theatre, we believe that theatre should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial barriers. The Free Theatre Pass Program is a testament to our commitment to this mission, focusing on reaching underserved communities within New Haven. By collaborating with NHFPL, we ensure that more people have the chance to experience the transformative power of live theatre.

How the Program Works

Easy Access to World-Class Theatre

Pass Reservation: Free Theatre Passes can be reserved in person at any NHFPL branch. Each location holds two passes, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligible Productions: Passes are valid for all original productions by Long Wharf Theatre.

Availability: Passes become available when single tickets go on sale, ensuring equal access for all library members.

Micro-Branch Initiative

Our micro-branch, now digital, features books and resources related to our current and upcoming shows. Whether you're a first-time attendee or a seasoned theatre lover, these curated materials will enrich your understanding and appreciation of the performances, making each visit to Long Wharf Theatre even more meaningful.
