The opening of Long Wharf Theatre in July 1965 marked the culmination of a tremendous volunteer effort on the part of the local community.

Committed to the dream of a regional theatre in New Haven, these individuals helped start Long Wharf on its journey of artistic excellence and began the organization’s strong tradition of volunteerism.

Today, support for Long Wharf Theatre continues to grow through a generous community spirit and the desire to be involved in the life of the theatre.

Volunteer Opportunities include:

The Long Wharf Theatre Guild

A membership organization, The Guild plays an integral role in ushering, fundraising, staffing receptions, helping with student events, and numerous cultural and social activities, bound by a common love of theatre and desire to share in the backstage excitement through volunteer service and social events.

Through a variety of activities, Long Wharf Theatre Guild members become welcome contributors to the Long Wharf Theatre legacy, and do much to foster the sense of family that makes this theatre so welcoming to the many actors and artists who pass through the doors every season.
